2011 KIA Rio Review
The 2011 KIA Rio is an economical car with a decent fuel economy rating of 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and an overall rating of 31 mpg with a manual transmission. When combined with an automatic transmission the EPA rating is a 27mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg combined. It is offered as a 4-door hatchback known as the KIA Rio 5 or a sedan and powered by a 1.6 – liter inline 4-cylinder engine that provides 110 horsepower and 107 lb ft of torque.
The 2011 KIA Rio sedan is presented in three trim levels; the Base, LX and the SX. The Base model gets a 5- speed manual transmission and the LX and SX a 4-speed automatic transmission. Driving a 2011 Kia Rio with a manual transmission is quiet pleasant because of an effortless clutch and an accurate shifter.
With an automatic transmission, this fuel efficient but low performing compact car is not very dynamic, but changing gears is fairly nippy and smooth. It handles quiet solidly and is true to form because of a remarkably exact steering. Ride quality on a 2011 KIA Rio passable with a moderately tranquil travel on the highway but rather intolerant to potholes, bumps and other road flaws.
Safety tests are not one of the 2011 Kia Rio’s notable achievements. The Insurance Institute for Highway awarded it with an “Acceptable” score on the frontal –offset crash impact test and “Poor” in the side-impact crash test. But still, the safety features of the 2011 KIA Rio is quite adequate.
